What is The World Cup?
The World Cup is a soccer tournament held every four years. The World Cup is made up of Thirty-two teams. The top five teams in order are Brazil, France, Portugal, Spain, and England. Who are the star players? The star players are Kevin DeBruyne, Mbappe, Messi, Neymar Jr, Robert Lewandiws. The World Cup is from November 20th to December 18th. This year the World Cup is going to be in Qatar but every World Cup is in a different place.
The History of The World Cup
The World Cup started in 1930, and it was won by Uruguay, In 1934 it was won by Italy and then they didn’t have a World Cup because of WWII. The World Cup has been held every four years except for World War II. Brazil has won the most World Cup trophies. The World Cup is held every four years because in order to have enough time for the qualification tournament and playoffs among the national teams.
Neymar vs Messi
Although Neymar Jr. and Messi are not alike they still have a lot of things in common. Both Messi and Neymar play for Paris Saint Germain. They both are professional soccer players. Messi was 13 years old when he joined professional soccer. Neymar was 17 years old when he joined professional soccer. Neymar Jr. is one of the most expensive soccer transfers in history. Messi is older than Neymar by five years. Although both Neymar and Messi play forward.
Soccer Falls and Tackles
The five most common soccer injuries are Ankle sprains, knee meniscus cartilage, torn ACL, hernia, and hamstring strain. Most of these injuries are caused by falls and tackles. Some injuries are very serious and some can stop some peoples career. In 2014 Naymar Jr. was on the field and got very injured; he had to leave The World Cup that year, and he was knocked out of the quarterfinals because he had a fractured vertebra (“Neymar Britannica”). If the injury was 2 centimeters to the right he would not be able to walk again.
Qatar’s Climate
In the summer Qatar’s climate gets as hot as 122 ℉. In November it gets up too 63 ℉. If they were to do The World Cup in the summer the players would have overheated. Even if they usually do it in the summer they were not able to this year. In Qatar they didn’t have enough stadiums to play in, so they had to build one out of shipping containers. The name of the stadium is 974.
