Many of these tribes, clans, and empires include a storytelling tradition that passes on history and culture by oral traditions told by storytellers known as griots.

Students made storyboards of these traditional African Folk Tales. This helped them understand the cultural element but also practice summarizing and deciphering the main idea of a story.
